Kofi Frimpong‘s (2007) company, Socionado, has a new investor – Will Smith! Will chose him to receive $10,000 after Kofi pitched to him onstage as part of an “elevator pitch” contest at TechCrunch Disrupt SF 2019. Socionado customizes and manages freelance employer brand teams for companies to help them create content showcasing company culture, workplace environment, diversity & employee testimonials.
Saad Amer (2012) Founder of Plus1Vote, was recently featured on the cover of NewsDay. The piece follows his work on climate change at the United Nations, local environmental activism, and voter outreach across the United States.
Nicole Thompson (2010) has written, directed and produced an award-winning movie called Blackbird. In the film, a woman who cleans planes for a living is presented with an opportunity to attend aviation school to become a pilot. Throughout her journey, she faces self-doubt, learns to chase her dreams, and defies the odds.
Carrie Regan (1989 Scholar and Producer for HGTV, middle right) has a new show out on HGTV called Fixer to Fabulous that airs on Tuesdays nights at 9 pm ET/8 CT. The stars of the show are Jenny and Dave Marrs (pictured left and right), who were recommended by fellow Coke Scholar and good friend Julie Gehrki (1998, middle left) who also lives in Bentonville, AR, where the show is filmed. The four of them celebrated together at the show’s premier in Bentonville.
Dr. Armen Kherlopian (2005), Genpact’s Chief Science Officer, spoke at the WCIT (World Congress of Information Technology) and addressed topics ranging from business innovation to the future of healthcare. Past and present speakers have included world leaders and titans of technology and communication such as Bill Gates, Bill Clinton, Ginni Rometty, Steve Forbes, Kim Kardashian West, Gary Vaynerchuck, Narayana Murthy, Magdalena Yesil and Richard Quest. Karyn Harrington (1997) will take on the new role of Vice President, Global Internal and Leadership Communications, at The Coca-Cola Company. Her team’s work will center on employee, culture and engagement communications, as well as developing communications programs for the executive leadership team.
